Missouri Symphony Orchestra

This year marks the 33rd anniversary of mid-Missouri’s only professional resident symphony orchestra, the Missouri Symphony Orchestra. Established by the Missouri Symphony Society, the MSO is composed of musicians from throughout the United States and around the world and performs primarily in its historic home, Columbia’s Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts, a spectacular 1928 vaudeville/movie palace.

Through its annual eight-week season, the Hot Summer Nights Music Festival (held in June & July), chamber music outreach programs, and tours throughout the state and beyond, the Missouri Symphony Orchestra has established a reputation for musical excellence.

The MSO has performed with such distinguished artists as Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Andre Watts, Andreas Klein, and Nelson Padgett, and has been heralded by the Kansas City Star as an ensemble that performs with “energy and élan, as well as secure technique.”
