The Artistic Home Of:
Columbia Civic Orchestra
Columbia Civic Orchestra is a volunteer group dedicated to providing enjoyment for its members and audiences with the presentation of symphonic music and in the preservation of this tradition.
Founded by Emeritus Conductor Anthony Addison, the ensemble is currently under the musical direction of Stefan Freund, who is also well-known as a composer, cellist, and educator. In recent seasons, repertoire has included the likes of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, the Dvorak New World Symphony, the Verdi Requiem, and Scheherazade.
As a partner organization to the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts, we endeavor:
• to develop and inspire local talent in classical orchestral and chamber music,
• to bring together people of all ages to share art and friendship,
• to spread the love of music throughout the community, and
• to facilitate the presentation of other art forms, such as dance and choral music.
The Orchestra usually has openings in its string sections and occasionally in the winds. If you are interested in joining, contact us by telephone: 573-815-9799, or by email: ccorchestra@fastmail.net.
