The Artistic Home Of:

Women's Symphony League
MISSION
Founded in 1971 by Lucy Vianello and Jean Smith, WSL’s mission is to foster, promote and increase the public’s knowledge and appreciation of classical music through educational activities. In addition, WSL organizes various activities which support the Missouri Symphony Society (MOSS) and the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts (MTCA). With WSL at its side, MOSS brings established classical artists to Columbia as well as encourages youth participation in classical music events.
MEETINGS
Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. These meetings offer members the opportunity to network and hear great music.
ACTIVITIES
The Holiday Home Tour which showcases notable Columbia homes is WSL’s primary fundraiser. It is held each December and includes the Gypsy Boutique, Bake Sale and Silent Auction.
Produced by WSL, the Piano Student Showcase at MTCA features aspiring musicians who compete for recognition and an opportunity to perform with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra during the Hot Summer Nights Music Festival.
WSL contributes annually to the Women’s Symphony League’s Lucy Vianello Chair to supplement a Missouri Symphony Orchestra musician’s salary.
WSL sponsors the Chamber Recital Series in the Hot Summer Nights Music Festival.
WSL established a scholarship fund for young musicians to benefit MOSS Youth Orchestra,
Children’s Chorus and Piano Student Showcase students.
